Holistic Support Advisor

This course explores the principles and practices of holistic advising, emphasizing a student-centered approach that addresses the whole person. Students will develop skills in building rapport, active listening, and needs assessment to understand students' academic, personal, and social challenges. The course covers strategies for developing comprehensive advising plans, connecting students to campus resources, and empowering students to achieve their goals. Through case studies, role-playing, and reflective practice, students will learn to create a supportive advising environment that fosters student success and well-being. In alignment with the NACADA core competencies: Create rapport and build academic advising relationships, communicate in an inclusive and respectful manner, plan and conduct successful advising interactions.
