Getting Your First Job
This 4-week online microcredential course is designed to help students prepare for their first professional job by developing both financial and career readiness skills. Students learn how to assess job offers, interpret benefit packages, plan for taxes and investments, and manage risk during career transitions. Through a series of real-world projects and applied assessments, learners will create a personalized plan to transition from college to career. This course is ideal for those about to enter the workforce or considering a career change.

By the end of this course, learners will understand how to prepare for a competitive job search, complete effective applications and interviews, evaluate job offers and benefit packages, and analyze the financial implications of employment decisions. Learners will also be able to identify investment and tax planning considerations relevant to their first job or early-career transitions.
Learners will engage in module projects where they analyze job offers, evaluate benefit costs, and practice workplace financial decision-making. Participation activities provide opportunities for real-time financial planning and career exploration. Exams are used to assess learners’ understanding of career readiness and financial literacy. Additional readings and discussions help learners build professional judgment and workplace competency.
Learners are assessed through a combination of participation activities and module projects.
